(La rente baisse, Bertrand achète, alors Robert change de langage). Tout ce que je viens de vous dire est faux, je reçois, par le courrier ordinaire, la nouvelle que le roi d’Angleterre va bien, le caporal de Pezenas chantait la Mère godichon et son escouade faisait chorus, mon correspondant s’est trompé, quant au choléra, il est mort, son médecin l’a tué …… (La rente hausse, Bertrand revend avec bénéfice, et Macaire dit en s’en allant : enfoncé les Bêtas !).
