GUERRIERS CHINOIS.
Tous les chinois ont le droit de porter, six ou huit fois par an, un fusil, une giberne et même un bonnet à poil: alors ils se livrent, plus ou moins volontiers à des patrouilles nocturnes qui ont pour but de maintenir la tranquillité. Seulement il arrive assez souvent, que le chef nommé KA-PO-RAL a infiniment de peine à empêcher ses guerriers de chanter à gorge déployée: "la mère Go-Di-Chon" ou autres romances chinoises, et c'est en se réveillant en sursaut que les bons bourgeois apprennent qu'on veille sur leur repos.

CHINESE WARRIORS.
All the Chinese have six to eight times per year the right to carry a gun, a cartridge box and even a bear-skin hat. They are sent more or less voluntarily on night time duty, with the aim to keep public piece.
