Dans ces monts sourcilleux dont la neige aigrette
Semble un front chenu de géant,
Pour se faire un chemin, Annibal triomphant
Mil les Alpes en vinaigrette.

Translation:
HANNIBAL'S CROSSING.
These lofty mountains where the crested snow resembles
the white forehead of a giant trembles
to forge a road, with a triumphant song
Hannibal turned the Alps into cornichon.
